GRAND CANYON
Nearly five million people see the 1 mile deep (1.6 km) Grand Canyon each year. Most of them see it from their car at overlooks along the South Rim (this includes Grand Canyon Village, Hermits Rest, and Desert View). The South Rim, the most accessible part of the park, is open all year, averaging 7000 feet/ 2134 m above sea level. A much smaller number of people see the Canyon from the North Rim, which lies just 10 miles / 16 km (as the California condor flies) directly across the Canyon from the South Rim. The Inner Canyon includes everything below the rim and is seen mainly by hikers, mule riders, or river runners. There are many opportunities here for adventurous and hardy persons who want to backpack, ride a mule toPhantom Ranch, or take a river trip through the Canyon on the Colorado River (which can take anywhere from several days to three weeks - there are no one-day river trips through the length of Grand Canyon).

 DENALI NATIONAL PARK

"Denali" is the name that Athabascan Indian people gave to the mountain. It means "The High One." Denali is the highest peak in the 700-mile long Alaska Range, which crosses Alaska, from west to east.

Why is Denali so much taller than the other mountains in the Alaska Range? There are three reasons. The first is, it is still growing. Not a lot – but, it is getting taller at the rate of a millimeter every year. The second is that it is younger than the surrounding mountains. Denali is thought to be 56 million years old, and its neighbors are 100 to 400 million years old – so they have been worn down by the elements, including snow and glaciers. The third reason Denali is so tall is that it's made of harder rock. So is Foraker, the next tallest mountain, which is close by.

        Yellowstone
The world’s first National Park is one of the planet’s most unique collections of geography, geothermal activity, and wildlife. Once-common North American animals such as bison, grizzly bears, and wolves live here among other large species just as they did when the first European explorers arrived to document this strange and wonderful place. Thousands of geysers surround historic lodges, mountains, rivers, and canyons that make Yellowstone one of the most spectacular places in America to experience the natural world. Yellowstone is a wilderness filled with natural wonders that are also potential hazards. There is no guarantee of your safety. Regulations are strictly enforced to protect you and the park's resources.National Parks are worth a visit. It is our countries legacy. There's no better way to bond with the family and enjoy the great outdoors. Most National Parks have something unique to become a designated National Park. Yellowstone is beyond special, it is the world's first national park. It is over 2.2 million acres packed inside an ancient caldera. Geysers, waterfalls, wildlife and scenic beauty. They are maintained only during daylight hours and may close during severe storms. Expect snowpack, ice, frost heaves, drifts. Mud/Snow tires or tire chains may be required and are recommended always. Speed limit for all vehicles is 45 mph (73 kph), or lower where posted—such as from North Entrance to Mammoth. Do not stop on the road or block traffic when viewing wildlife or scenery. Use pullouts. Trails and overlooks may be snow-covered, icy, and dangerous. Obey all trail closures.

MANHATTAN
New York City comprises the central island of Manhattan and the four outer boroughs – Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island. Manhattan, to many, is New York; certainly, this is where you’re likely to stay and spend most of your time. The island is broadly divided into three areas: Downtown (below 14th St), Midtown (14th St to Central Park/59th St) and Uptown (north of 59th St). Though you could spend weeks here and still barely scratch the surface, there are some things to do in New York that you won’t want to miss. These include the different ethnic neighbourhoods, like Chinatown, and the more artsy concentrations of Soho and the East and West villages. Of course, there is the celebrated architecture of Midtown and the Financial District, as well as many fabulous museums – not just the Metropolitan and MoMA, but smaller collections like the Frick and the Morgan Library that afford days of happy wandering. In between sights, you can eat just about anything, at any time, cooked in any style; you can drink in any kind of company; and enjoy any number of obscure movies. The more established arts – dance, theatre and music – are superbly presented. For the avid consumer, the choice of shops is vast, almost numbingly exhaustive, in this heartland of the great capitalist dream.
